Anugerah Industri Muzik ke 16 (AIM 2009) Award Show

Call it whatever you want but you must listen to your main sponsor!

We are used to ‘red carpet’ term but during Anugerah Industri Muzik 2009 it is blue carpet because  it is the official colour of main sponsor; telco giant Celcom. It is not glamorous red, but it doesn’t stop the style makers and seekers to walk gracefully on the blue carpet.

AIM that was held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) is also a sign that economic crunch doesn’t stop our boys and girls to make good music and to be in their own style.

Seperti biasa, saya dengan penuh berangannya berjalan di atas blue carpet AIM! Nasib baik  takde orang baling botol mineral water! Thanks to Encik Rahman from Persatuan Industri Rakaman Malaysia (RIM)  for the invitation.

I was seated next to two decently dressed ladies and lovely producers Raja Azmi and Zaiton Mohd Jiwa (Kak Tun). Raja Azmi memberitahu saya shortlisted untuk pelakon-pelakon utama Anu Dalam Botol sudah ada dan penggambaran akan dimulakan pada bulan Jun (sadly I am not in the list, probably I am not beautiful enough to become maknyah!.. hehehe.. gurau je yek). Kak Tun adalah kakak kepada Datuk K and that makes her kakak ipar Siti Nurhaliza (betui le kan?). She is the one who produce Spa Q (1 and 2). The next collaboration from them is Antara Anyer dan Jakarta which Raja Azmi is the script writer and Kak Tun is the producer. Wait for the slots ya…

The main characters of the night. I don’t like Afdlin Shauki ‘woody woodpecker’ hair. It looks cheap and not properly done and so Mr T from The-A Team.   Adibah Noor looks elegant in yellow and Bob Lokman in red shirt tux, glamour!

Amazing performance and superb outfit!  Faizal Tahir in black and gold silver vest while Rossa dress just superb! Love the detailing, the colour and  the ruffles . Very couture!

  

Second change. Afdlin in blue velvet jacket and matching keffiyeh (nice styling!!)  while Adibah Noor in blue and black, a great combination of colour that compliment the dress. Still hate Afdlin hair!

 Slumdog Millionaire dancers in town? No.. it is Chakra Sonic. Oh boy,  What a happening act! The music, the colourful outfits, the dance, just great!  

PLKN trainees ready for Malique show. Bergerak, bergerak!! Nasib baiklah saya dah tua, kalu muda lagi, tak pasai-pasai kena pi PLKN. Tapi my anak buah kata punyalah best kat PLKN.Macam-macam ada!

Congratulation Meet Uncle Hussein for winning the award and for being in festival ready outfit. Some of the indie band doesn’t even care to dress for award show. They are handsomely dressed in  military (or it is navy?)  inspired jackets. It makes me want to wear that type of jacket. Damn….. I want it!!!!!!!!!!!

The third and best change for Adibah Noor. Who said you can’t be in your best dressed if you are plus size? The black Calvin Thoo dress looks (and probably) expensive just like the million ringgit necklace from Fa’iq Jewels. Mahalnya barang-barang kemas ni!!!

Sheila Majid in empire ‘glamorous ruffles’ dress. She never fails to be in her best in any performance! To all young stars, listen. Sheila Majid is like a LAGENDA, thanks to her songs and her dress sense, two main recipes for success. Learn something from her!

Anugerah Bintang Popular 2008 Berita Harian – Awards Presentation

I was invited to Anugerah Bintang Popular 2008 that was held in Arena Or Stars Genting Highlands. It was a star-studded night.  Malaysian entertainment people are everywhere; this is the night to honour and to be honoured!

Big thanks to Berita Harian; especially Zainuri for the invitation.

It was also the night to show who wore the best stuff! The theme was Sentuhan Tenun.

THANKS AGAIN to BERITA HARIAN FOR MY SEAT. It was a good view for me to snap, snap and snap and to perform my own fashion review!

Two veterans, Dato’ Yusof Haslam and A.Galak look so casual, well at least they take an effort to put on jacket! Is that LV check messenger bag on A.Galak lap?

 

The stage manager I guess, he is so popular among the crowd. One of the cheering factors!

 

Opening act by Anita Sarawak. She is in corset, pants and that bulu-bulu. Well she is stunning! Dah berumur tetap slim dan bertenaga.

 

Second opening act, Stacy also in bulu-bulu! So energetic. Tape saya suka baju ni, very stage costume and she can dance in that. Very Bjork punya baju angsa!

 

 

Farah is the winner of CuteCarry biggest accessory award. Tapi walaupun ada yang kata tak ok, saya kata ok. Baju dia simple and the accessories tu compliment the minimal design. Menang dua award, Penyampai TV Popular dan Penyampai Radio Popular. Fofular akak ni!

The big winner, Nabil. He is in tenun scarf to compliment his edgy hair. Ada yang kata Rambut Nabil cam tak sesuai tapi pada saya apa salahnya, cuba gaya lain sekali sekala. Maybe after this, rambut dia lain pulak kan. Pada pendapat saya juga, mungkin Nabil perlu lebih bergaya glamour. Dressing dia kali ni ok jugak, tapi kan bagus kalu dia leh nampak lebih sophisticated!  He needs a touch of high fashion!

The Divas and Nubhan (Vernon termasuk Diva jugak!!). Umie Aida looks fresh and sophisticated, Vernon as flamboyant as he can be, Zahida Rafik as sexy as she can be, Nubhan in white jacket and songket tenun scarf.

 

 

Myself with designer Calvin Thoo. He is like 37 and looks like 17! Antara artis yang memakai pakaiannya pada malam itu ialah Rozita Che Wan, Ayu Raudhah, Marsha.

 

 

Faizal Tahir new do

My best style awards (Reality Star Category) goes to Faizal Tahir and Nita.

They really understand the YSL quote ‘fashion come and goes, style remains forever’.

They reinvent their look. Faizal Tahir from long hair to short, while Nita vice versa.

Faizal looks fresh and vibrant. The short hair defines his face, with a bit of layering on the front. For those who are trying to go for short do, this cut is something that you can think of. Interestingly, I think his hair is suit both sex!

Faizal is one of the best dressed male artist in Malaysia. The first Malaysian artist to wear Dior officially on the red carpet. Those who get Dior approval he is definitely has some good style DNA.

Memang sukalah rambut pendek Faizal.

JUARA LAGU 23 STAGE

It’s a night full of stars and songs. What more that I want. It just like going to the centre where stars just go there to have fun and listen to cool music. A very spectacular night indeed. All the famous singers in their most extravagant (or ridiculous) wear walking and sitting next to each other.

I still remember back a night in 1988 and I am still a little child (read: little child). Juara Lagu was so big and everybody can’t stop buzzing about it. The winning price is rm10K (very,very big at that point of time) and Francesca Peters won. It is still big now, but not as big as before. Probably due to like dozens of singing competitions now!

I am having a very musical night at Juara Lagu or Champion of Songs Awards. If you into Malay songs and singers, you must be having a dream to attend this event. But never mind, at least you don’t have to worry about what to wear. It took me like 2 to 3 days to think what I should wear. The result is not bad. I can see people stare, camera flashing and a few praise my look.

Ok.. .about the camera flashing thing, maybe I am just hallucinating! But I get a few unexpected fans whose came and snap me. I am not a star. I am only a guy with cheap fedora and Palestine inspired scarf!

Congratulations to Meet Uncle Hussein. I thought it is Faizal Tahir but it is ok too for MUH home with the trophy!

I am enjoying the music but at the same time, I am enjoying what they wear. They are performers, so they used to bloggers writing about what they wear!

I AM A DESIGNER MUSE LOOK

This is what happened after years of years of mingling with designers. Ziana Zain is a true fashion star. From head –the bling-bling head band, to toe, killer heels which accidently slipped from her small feet, it just ultimate fabulous. The dress look a bit likes last season Chanel Couture, but (thanks to info from Ziana folk) it is from Malaysian designer, Rizman Ruzaimi.

I AM A STYLISH ROCK STAR

Faizal Tahir never failed to impress me. He did two performances and two sets of outfit and both just hip, chic and rock. Faizal, you are a rock star. A newer, fresher Malaysian version of rock star. I wish I am the stylist on the stage!

I AM A PHANTOM LOOK

They won and just like me, the lead also wearing fedora (I don’t know how much, but mine is cheap!). Classic look but not too boring. Forget about the mask and you’ll get proper super hot dude in a suit!

I AM OPRAH WINFREY WANNABE LOOK

I am ok with Ayu. She looks great, but don’t you think the hair and the makeup add 5 years to her age? She is sweet and young (along with RM1 million) I am hoping her in vibrant colour. But not bad Ayu, not bad. She’ll be at Ziana Zain level if she continues to live, learn and experiment.

I AM A COLLEGE INDIE BAND LOOK

They look great. Look like a bunch of rich college kids in designer wear. Sofaz knows how to wear it and I hope its last.

I AM 11 YEARS OLD LOOK

He is famous from losing kilos but he is also losing his age with messy hair, no war button badge and t-shirt with that tie printed motive. Aizat looks like Japanese primary school kids playing music in a Love world, hate war school campaign or something! But in a very mysterious way, you look cool!

I AM A MISS UNIVERSE (NATIONAL COSTUME CATEGORY) CONTESTANT LOOK

I know it is an Arabian Eastern inspired song but who on earth ask this young, innocent sweet boy put on something that make him look like a drunk Pharaoh and with a bunch of gothic belly dancers? Aiman, you are talented, but don’t let anyone do like this to you. But, this is creative, who am I to say more? He is a good singer, it is just that the thick make-up makes him look like Pharaoh clown, Yuyu or depressed beauty pageant contestant.

I AM MADONNA VS GEISHA LOOK

Remember Madonna Jean Paul Gaultier kinky Geisha dress in Nothing Really Matter video? This is a bit like it, only this is a demure version, colourful version. She is nothing like kinky geisha, instead she an innocent young girl in the industry. Did you ever heard about her having an affair with married man, no right? So Farawahida is an innocent girl!

I AM GWEN STEFANI LOOK

She put on her shoes and sang. Frankly, I can’t get her songs out of my head. Elyana is one of the best artists who know what she wants to wear. She has style and do not afraid to express her sense of style, just like Gwen. Icon in the making.

M. Nasir is one of the guest singer and as usual, he is in something so similar back arm… I can’t remember when!
